A vital step forward: rough sleeping to be decriminalised in England and Wales 📢

The government's decision to repeal the 1824 Vagrancy Act is a long overdue step in how we respond to homelessness.

At Stef & Philips, we have spent nearly 20 years supporting people facing homelessness. We know from experience that rough sleeping is not a crime - it's a crisis. One that calls for compassion, support, and sustainable solutions.

No one should be criminalised for simply not having a home ❌

This change in law is a vital step in the right direction. But real progress means pairing compassion with action - ensuring that those experiencing street homelessness are met with tangible help, not stigma.
